Compliance is checked by subclause 26.3 in IEC 61558-1or by the following:- u& r5 F% Z4 _5 h
Three test samples, each individual sample consisting of three or more layers of non-separable( K+ y! m4 j& A! f5 g4 c
thin sheet material forming REINFORCED INSULATION, are used. One sample at a time is fixed to
4 q: o7 `/ E9 E6 ^% j% fthe mandrel of the test fixture (Figure 14) as shown in Figure 15.

using an appropriate clamping device. The mandrel is rotated by hand without jerks$ Q5 Y1 w' g: t4 u$ X
– from the initial position (Figure 15) to the final position (Figure 16) and back;$ M$ ] \# e2 @4 a: b! P

If a sample breaks during rotation where it is fixed to the mandrel or the clamping device, this
/ @+ P) @! I7 Fdoes not constitute a failure and the test is repeated on a fresh sample. If a sample breaks at* F) h' g/ Y" Q% p# ]; d& N! [
any other place, the test has failed.
+ J3 M% d. u( }; g+ zAfter this preconditioning, a sheet of metal foil, 0,035 mm ± 0,005 mm thick, at least 200 mm, K! ~; D4 H& T1 c; k
long, is placed along the surface of the sample, hanging down on each side of the mandrel
* ~ o% H9 f; E8 C(see Figure 16). The surface of the foil in contact with the sample shall be conductive, not+ p! [) l( T/ s$ w0 j( r( m8 ~, r
oxidised or otherwise insulated. The foil is positioned so that its edges are not less than 18 mm
% d$ T7 K# V. g1 Y% F5 Dfrom the edges of the sample (see Figure 17). The foil is then tightened by two equal weights,. s( r( B4 S4 `3 ~6 n
one at each end, using appropriate clamping devices.

dielectric strength test is applied between the mandrel and the metal foil in accordance with) Z% ?/ P# a. }9 n: k1 `3 t7 Z) T
10.3.2, using a test voltage of 1,5 times the value specified in Table 5 for REINFORCED& A9 A0 ?5 @# P! G. r: T8 p
INSULATION, but not less than 5 kV.

No flashover or breakdown shall occur during the test; corona effects and similar phenomena being disregarded.# _. l1 }' }$ j, ^7 Q
