Question: Is it possible to approve luminaires provided with LEDs?. R2 ]( K. A$ M: B% T; U
Decision: Yes, provided that:7 B$ g" k! f: l! Q
- the LED circuit shall be verified according to IEC/EN 61347-2-13 or IEC/EN: T# T7 s- ~) ?7 D$ H/ d
61347-2-11 (*) and the LED shall be tested according to IEC/EN 60825 –1
8 R0 |5 ?- Z4 o) M6 d(Safety of laser products) (§)-(#), if it has laser radiation in the wavelength( H; i- l) Q5 J. X4 m% N" c! K
ranging from 180 nm to 1 mm. Only LEDs classified as Class 1 lasers can be+ z# ^% R4 I7 o, C7 B# u
used without problems for lighting purposes without protection.7 w: O( f( g7 K, ~$ @2 v; c
- The thermal tests required in Section 12 of IEC/EN 60598-1 shall be carried- M5 O8 ?0 E$ ]3 p4 u7 m
out as follows:
& s" c2 I! }% y5 d) ya) Luminaires (Class I or II) with built-in control gear shall be tested
7 t7 r: K ~; Caccording to the requirements of IEC/EN 60598-2-6.
R4 W9 t) e8 ? j2 N7 Wb) For Class III luminaires the manufacturer shall provide the necessary R4 C1 n* }/ `( v" U
information to power up the LED circuit correctly in the instruction sheet.* @; z: G) G. p, v% J
Alternatively, the manufacturer shall inform Testing Station about the
9 U7 G6 l7 V* @+ O) ~9 k# Dtrade mark, the type and the technical characteristics of the appropriate
' w6 e- J7 G7 q" O+ Ccontrol gear to be used. There are three different control gears namely, the
9 e6 g+ p6 ?6 o8 I) y; v6 u' ftype and the trade mark as indicated by the luminaire manufacturer; an
5 d1 q3 u4 L( `2 G: \# felectronic control gear clearly specified in the luminaire instruction sheet6 {7 g9 H" W4 i! d6 e+ A/ H/ p. M
and a ferromagnetic control gear. The tests shall be carried out as required& }4 Q6 J# R1 S: ^% V) m) x/ c& M! R
in Section 12 according to IEC/EN 60598-2-6 with the appropriate control) \: n' y% `' p
gear.0 B" Q: \ r5 C; D
(*) When IEC/EN 62031 (34A/1168/CDV) will be published, it will takes
