# n# ?0 W9 h5 g1 J) H4 T) iDecision: In principle apply the requirements given in IEC/EN 60825-1. However in order
+ v7 I$ L; u& H7 M9 A# D6 V- Nto avoid expensive measurements, the luminaires provided with LEDs should be
; x1 y+ |8 U/ g* Ytreated in the following:: m7 {% \/ d7 d" Q; {4 B4 T/ t5 z
- If the light intensity is low, i.e. from a conventional LED for indication or signalling
- j. i# W6 g9 \. r. [, y* h9 `4 B# Hpurposes, the LED is most likely comparable with a laser of Class 1 according to) Y3 s" h3 j! b- U# x+ r
IEC/EN 60825-1 and consequently there is no need measurements. During the
$ ?# x" R/ T; kjudgement the covers, optics and similar, which can be removed by hand, shall be. i9 P1 T! D( ^
removed. In the TRF it is indicated that the light intensity has been judged to comply
! w+ R0 [% A- K3 D9 F) ?+ n j9 uwith the limits given for Class 1 lasers in IEC/EN 60825-1 and no measurements are

. Y/ q. y# V$ i+ o- In all other cases the luminaire manufacturer shall be asked to provide a declaration
* n/ ?! ^* b! [, m( h5 Qbased on relevant tests (e.g. from the LEDs manufacturer) showing that the radiation' N: ]8 j% V0 t m5 E7 L4 f$ x4 L
from the LED module will not exceed the values given in IEC/EN 60825-1 for Class 1$ L% e4 i9 r8 e. _; {; {

based on a manufacturer declaration.

providing radiation according to Class 2 lasers, the luminaire shall be treated as a laser, a @# P4 D" T# p' f
