, q1 {$ \) m: b2 V9 _4 ]) a2 S3 ]; B- Clause 8.2 of IEC 60238 requires that lampholder shall be tested according to the gauges 7006-30
8 l& C9 W6 S! b3 W(7006-30A for candle lampholder) and 7006-31.
/ A$ r9 L4 S5 [In the case shown in photos 1 and 2, the only possibility to fulfill the requirements with gauge 7006-30 is* M% G' v5 R: O# q7 i
to cut the gasket around the rim of the lampholder. However in this condition the lampholder does not
% A( |5 h3 ?7 Mfulfill the requirement of 7006-31 for protection against electric shock. In the note after the fourth
8 [ s) _1 E, w& y4 t( Z, R, }& Lparagraph of clause 20.12.1 of IEC 60598-2-20 it is written that the gasket may serve as protection against1 P9 V" B/ E7 i$ \/ A$ ?! H
accidental contact with the cap of the lamp, but only for bayonet lampholder. So, it is not applicable to the! |; {; t T. a# J; p
E14 lampholder.; O7 g5 @: y* j. m3 e' z
In the case shown in photo 3 the test with gauge 7006-31 gives negative result.( d: P3 l! L5 r2 |- S( B
In the two cases, the lampholders have been designed to accept E14/20 lamp cap only (and not E14/23x153 k! X: r4 C- u6 }: V% \
or E14/25x17). So, if the tests are performed with these kind of lamps, the test requirements are fulfilled.
& \ V. z+ F3 X2 g K/ [7 xWe think that this lampholder used in a lighting chain is not in compliance with the standard due to the& n1 s1 {3 D) x: O! {' |1 \3 |
requirement of clause 20.7.1. What is the opinion of the other laboratories?( L- X8 J$ u4 c* Q
Decision:% r7 Y7 {3 a- X" v2 J3 q
The lampholder can be accepted as part of lighting chain / luminaire. All requirements according to IEC
2 x- W4 t2 ^1 [2 F0 a1 ^60238 as far as applicable have to be fulfilled and the gauge 7006-31 shall comply.! x. H7 I" g# P1 @8 s. \
