Decision: Yes, provided that:2 A+ I: K2 Z d z# r* T1 u" F
(1) The LED circuit is verified according to IEC/EN 61347-2-2 (*) or IEC/EN; Y$ }) R: H7 K7 [( g6 Q3 V. v
61347-2-11. If the laser emits radiation in the wavelength range from 180 nm to 1
# o: g$ b: M, g9 i4 M, ?5 g3 F) mmm, the LED shall also be tested according to IEC/EN 60825 –1 (Safety of laser# h8 w& {% L& {7 k# D" K$ X# F6 e% j0 I
products). Only LEDs classified as Class 1 lasers can be used without problems5 a1 P8 Y0 }7 ?1 G# W
for lighting purposes without protection.$ S1 N1 D9 G9 ~1 T3 n
(2) The thermal tests required in Section 12 of IEC/EN 60598-1 are carried out as' p7 y( C3 W* z& u+ e
follows:
3 w6 x- x! J4 j$ P9 V% n. `(a) Luminaires (Class I or II) with built-in control gear can be tested9 N' R/ M& k+ A6 t
according to the requirements of IEC/EN 60598-2-6.$ ?$ a9 b {0 M j6 {+ @* g
(b) For Class III luminaires, the luminaires manufacturer shall provide on: W* e! t4 _. m: ?5 S
the instructions all the necessary information to supply the LED circuit
# d1 X( M, d' E! i3 E3 {: L% @* ~- Tcorrectly or shall inform the Testing Station about the trade mark, the type2 n9 G* f! U5 z/ K2 Q# r7 u/ s
and the technical characteristics of the appropriate control gear. There can
2 Y$ l3 a( p/ m r4 xbe three different control gears: the type and the trade mark indicated by the
( S# @2 y- c" o* iluminaire manufacturer; an electronic control gear clearly specified on the9 r! V0 @# d% y: ~
luminaire instructions; a ferromagnetic control gear. The tests shall be
?1 p# y3 n% n& Vcarried out as required in Section 12 according to IEC/EN 60598-2-6 with$ s$ r7 {! W9 w( `% F
the appropriate control gear.
