Decision: Yes, provided that:
& h/ @% b. ? g @7 D/ c; Q8 y8 `(1) The LED circuit is verified according to IEC/EN 61347-2-2 (*) or IEC/EN
! j% @$ m2 g0 L) v( B. {) Q" i61347-2-11. If the laser emits radiation in the wavelength range from 180 nm to 1
+ M* [* q! p4 s& w" m. w2 X' h. r" y. Bmm, the LED shall also be tested according to IEC/EN 60825 –1 (Safety of laser
* V" { }) Z/ _' n1 pproducts). Only LEDs classified as Class 1 lasers can be used without problems
" z+ k2 y o# R; Rfor lighting purposes without protection.
; B/ o# t6 z4 K(2) The thermal tests required in Section 12 of IEC/EN 60598-1 are carried out as

2 m1 {8 h* R& r(a) Luminaires (Class I or II) with built-in control gear can be tested( I# Q" M: t1 N6 q! Z1 V6 V
according to the requirements of IEC/EN 60598-2-6.
. e$ r& V/ }9 l: X, l(b) For Class III luminaires, the luminaires manufacturer shall provide on' V7 |% y5 H* e; R; e
the instructions all the necessary information to supply the LED circuit j4 i6 n& B* I2 Z% O, B$ u0 V3 r) o: ]
correctly or shall inform the Testing Station about the trade mark, the type
+ a: j* C# S, b9 C' F/ w, Mand the technical characteristics of the appropriate control gear. There can
$ N6 C: I( v8 b- y6 p4 vbe three different control gears: the type and the trade mark indicated by the1 D! c B6 r+ C
luminaire manufacturer; an electronic control gear clearly specified on the h) ~2 R, | ]" j& d( M6 d
luminaire instructions; a ferromagnetic control gear. The tests shall be

the appropriate control gear.
