Subject:

electric shock protection
Key words:

Decision taken by

meeting, in Toronto
Question:
If a fuse operates when checking equipment in Single Fault Condition as required by
Clause 6.3.2, should the fuse be replaced before the measurement of voltage, current and
capacitance are made?
Decision:
Where the fuse link is operator replaceable it should be replaced up to 3 times to enable the
measurements of 6.3.2 to be performed.
Explanation:
Where operators are instructed to replace a fuse link this should be done for a maximum of 3
times and no hazard as defined in 6.3.2 should arise.
Where the link is not designated as replaceable by the Operator then this should not be done.
