APPLICATION GUIDELINE:

Capacitor casings of capacitors Recognized to UL 1283 under Electromagnetic Interference

Under IEC 60384-14, X1, X2, X3, Y2, and Y3 capacitors are subjected to a minimum Electric# W, A F) [( D: k- }( V, _5 j
Strength Test of 2000 V rms between live parts and case. Y1 capacitors are subjected to a 4000
0 ~$ ]0 n7 t" Q& @, yV test. (Y4 are only subjected to a 900 V test).% z' j* b) o0 u; {" C! P2 H: ^/ ^
For Recognized Component FOWX2 capacitors, UL 1414 now covers X1, Y1 and Y2 capacitors,
) f% z0 z+ r4 a: {" [7 Cand the minimum Electric Strength Test is 2000 V between live parts and case. Y1 capacitors
6 ] b. d! V0 p$ S& D/ Aare subjected to a 4000 V test.
* m3 z6 R t0 nFor Recognized Component FOKY2 capacitors, UL 1283 requires the insulation between live
1 N" l, K3 p R \5 j9 ^/ W$ ]- Dparts and casing is required to pass a 2Vr+1500V (Vrating =< 250V) electric strength test.: f5 I% m0 ~% g3 t/ w4 _5 J: p
Additionally, the case is required to be V-2 or less flammable (or equivalent), and meet UL 746C6 `. n4 J n4 i- a3 x9 \4 H
(or generic) insulation requirements.7 {8 }( p7 N9 M$ `
