Question:
- |9 I- p. `9 X; Y! aWhat is the correct manner of applying the metal foil required for dielectric tests
2 j: n8 A3 q3 E$ t3 aaccording to Annex R of 60947-1?0 m, ]( T* C4 ], |* J* M
Rationale:
" K" N" A) Z1 `( iAnnex R of 60947-1, subclause R.2.2, gives instructions for the geometrical zones,% e ]4 w" `& X% H+ B2 [7 c
where the metal foil shall be applied. The examples in Figure R.3 have often been a8 R# {, W# a% T' g

The text of R.2.2 clearly states that all surfaces within the defined safety zones shall1 U/ |$ P, {" ^* Y# u( ?
be covered by the metal foil regardless of the orientation, unless the manufacturer

The guidelines not only state that the foil shall not be depressed into holes but also
9 l5 e' J1 ]! V3 eindicate that this requirement shall be applied to holes, where the test finger cannot E7 B$ x; l' A/ y0 j8 F/ D
penetrate (see note to figure R.3). This might be interpreted to the effect that the foil+ Y6 a0 S" |" _9 A. _
shall be adapted to outlines of the device forming cavities with diameters larger than
