The fixing system mentioned in 1.4.2.1 of machinery directive does mean that it's for the fixed guards, which got the chances of probably opened by the user.7 j+ L$ M% y% d9 B' W

Of course the damned guards are still guards.

But some of them are not required to be fixed by retained fastenings acc. to clause 1.4.2.1 of 2006/42/EC.

e.g. for some certain fixed guards on hedge trimmers, the user doesn't need to open them during the whole life time of the trimmers.
