5 Classification of equipment
: U1 [( Y$ L, T# \For the purpose of harmonic current limitation, equipment is classified as follows:

– balanced three-phase equipment;
6 t, `* V! x9 W# c3 \– household appliances, excluding equipment identified as class D;- r& e9 V7 i; g& t2 A; h- i, P! q
– tools, excluding portable tools;
N) B" X; }* Q– dimmers for incandescent lamps;
4 t/ B9 N2 o) I) x" x# j– audio equipment./ h& C5 p6 N4 U' I/ n
Equipment not specified in one of the three other classes shall be considered as class A
3 L1 D; a* l# L9 Iequipment.
W4 F$ \, F" C- u1 cNOTE 1 Equipment that can be shown to have a significant effect on the supply system may be reclassified in a4 y5 F$ }4 G2 q7 d$ O
future edition of the standard. Factors to be taken into account include:

– duration of use;6 b3 Z. Z, _% b _& D# G
– simultaneity of use;
# ]! h4 K3 K$ X7 N3 w' C* | v4 g– power consumption;0 ?( B- X. X! {5 S1 y
– harmonic spectrum, including phase.

– portable tools;
) s; z' q% ?1 X) j– arc welding equipment which is not professional equipment.

Class C:
* ^; j' w- t7 ^1 U+ V2 ]9 I– lighting equipment.
