Question:
( Z2 T3 q5 U- ~6 v& O2 \) {# z9.12.13.1 refers to the test conditions prescribed in 9.12.1 and states that the impedance Z1 shall

9.12.1 refers to the conditions in 9.12.1 to 9.12.12.
! W. W/ w2 _) _+ w* p3 v2 r9.12.2 and 9.12.7.4 require the test circuits according to figures 5 to 9 together with impedance1 v# D/ u& [- t/ [/ z
Z2 to be used.

For a single pole switch (with two current paths) normally rated for 230 V, the rated residual  I6 t7 F, I* K. ?! N. p
making and breaking capacity has to be tested at 230 V.
6 J7 k5 s6 W" [4 a% fFor a two pole switch normally rated for 400 V, the rated residual making and breaking$ v, j3 Y5 m1 h, D* _7 r- g
capacity has to be tested at 400 V.
- K; w. e% d2 v4 a7 hFor a three pole switch normally rated for 400 V, the rated residual making and breaking0 a0 g1 l# Q, k; k' e
capacity has to be tested at 400 V.- u* y! R, T+ C- T
For a three pole switch with four current paths and for a four pole switch normally rated for
2 I4 _* @% c8 U/ I  C7 }; x6 _) `400 V, the rated residual making and breaking capacity has to be tested at 230 V." o  T" P" e7 t% p, @2 \
Due to the fact that the purpose of this test is not to cover the special fault conditions in IT-systems,
& [  a, e3 z' n% O- C" M: D5 ?the test voltage for this verification of the rated residual making and breaking capacity should be+ }4 h; t3 n# X* @/ ?; d# H/ [
230 V, independent of the number of poles, and the relevant figures should be corrected.
% }* y5 A' T% R' VDecision taken at the SC23E WG2 meeting in Nice, October 2001:! \7 z( T- t  e  e4 r% I4 t
Extract from the minutes IEC SC23E_WG2_006:
7 w9 D' I, P3 R6 J2 oSC23E_WG2_010 request from Austria to update 61008 clause 9.11.2.3+ o, z  a& P" P0 c5 ~
The proposal made by Mr Bachl was considered justified and accepted. During the meeting
7 X% e3 F9 a( \* r: ^% U1 |WG2 decided that laboratories and certification bodies should be informed about this  L4 u; J) Q( H

Therefore the following statement was drafted:

Decision to be forwarded to CTL:
# b: R* u& d  E1 q0 G! D( QIEC SC23E WG2 decided to correct the inconsistent test requirement in IEC 61008-1 (1996-12), subclause
$ ?  c+ h' [$ b+ x1 p9.11.2.3 and in IEC 61009-1 (1996-12), subclause 9.12.13 - Verification of the rated residual

The test voltage for this verification of the rated residual making and breaking capacity should be the
* A8 Y1 u9 d+ oline to neutral voltage, independent of the number of poles of the RCCB or RCBO. This correction will
1 h9 g. [+ n+ S$ f* d- E7 ^be included in the next amendment or revision of IEC 61008-1 and IEC 61009-1.
" ?- K% @& }7 @; U% R1 M* V! I+ Q) }The revised test circuit (fig. 7) proposed for the standard is attached.
