ABNORMAL OPERATION TEST (DEEP FAT FRYERS/COOKER-FRYERS/FONDUES):

7 W; a- p3 X7 J# YThe appliance was placed in a test corner consisting of dull black painted fir plywood not less than 3/8 in. thick, having such width and height that the walls extended not less than 2 ft beyond the physical limits of the appliance. The vertical walls met at a right angle. A 12 inch deep simulated cabinet bottom, consisting of the same material as the walls, was placed 15 in. above the counter top. The supporting surface consisted of softwood covered by two layers of white tissue paper. The appliance was located as close to the walls as the construction would permit. A 60 Hz source of supply was connected to the unit with an input equal to the largest value recorded during the Power Input Test performed previously. A 3 A fuse was connected between dead metal parts of the unit and earth ground.

4 k) z! e8 h* v E9 X4 m6 d After each of the following parts of the Abnormal Operation Test, the Leakage Current was measured through a 500 ohm resistor connected between an accessible part and ground as quickly as possible thereafter.

Part 1 - The appliance was operated with fresh unused pure cold peanut oil at the recommended level, with the thermostat set to the position that gave maximum heat, and with the appliance initially at room temperature. It was operated for a period of 7-1/2 hours, or until ultimate results were observed. The cover was not in place./ ^* [; k. a$ |4 k7 v

Part 2 - Part 1 was repeated except with the oil drained from the appliance and leaving a residual film of oil behind.

Part 3 - Part 1 was repeated with all temperature controls other than the temperature limiting device defeated. The appliance was filled to the recommended level; the basket filled with French fry potatoes and the cover removed.& ~7 g& l0 D3 ^* n
