10.8 Internal wiring composed of insulated conductors shall comply with the Standard for Appliance

Exception No. 1: Insulated conductors need not comply with UL 758， if they comply with one of the

a) The Standard for Thermoset-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 44;

c) The applicable UL standard for other insulated conductor types specified in Wiring Methods
+ x/ P0 S/ q2 fand Materials, of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.2 ?6 S' F7 m( i

Exception No. 2: Insulated conductors for specialty applications (e.g. data processing or communications)6 F3 }( C! B8 k& p5 n( {, L# r* z" n
and located in a low-voltage circuit not involving the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons need% ~, g" M7 T/ e$ E- M0 L
not comply with UL 758.

1 v% a- q- O' l- {1 @Exception No. 3: Wiring in the appliance does not need to be VW-1 if all of the following criteria are met:
3 ?4 e3 Z2 _( N" O0 @2 u9 A% pa) Wire insulation consists of silicone or inorganic materials with glass or aramid braid fiberous
" q- s0 ^' W; k! ucovering. [For reference, examples UL Style 3251, 3257, 5420]
" Y* ^# g1 J0 @( F" z3 Vb) Conductors shall be stranded copper wire having a 600 Vac minimum insulation rating for
# w: C4 L) D j* q% s# Uhigh voltage circuits and having a 300 Vac insulation rating for low voltage circuits. Maximum1 h# r. q( | J7 F. Q" b
current rating would be based on Table 10.1.
