A laser-based light engine projector emits a white light spectrum with three dominant colours (see the0 L3 x7 P7 Q; D, x+ a. f( R
optical spectrum, Fig. 1 below, in comparison with the optical spectrum of a mercury lamp projector,' t: Q" |( ]- Y% D# p" \% \
Fig. 2). The blue light (ca. 440 nm) is generated by a blue laser diode; other wavelengths (with peaks8 h; ]+ E& h5 u' K' |
of green and red) are emitted from a fluorescent layer.

Measurements for calculations and determination of the respective applicable accessible emission

more stringent hazard limit for blue light, this blue light hazard may be over-classified if the total

2. Depending on its energy content, the remaining blue laser beam can be a very dangerous
' F) H! X2 o; L% P) m& pweapon, as it hides inside the seemingly safe broad-band white light to which users would not
3 o1 l% S) {2 S* {apply their behavioural/precautionary safety guard as they would to a sharp, bright, and/ n! v8 o m9 i6 q3 T; O0 D
collimated blue laser beam. During the evaluation of the blue laser beam the following extra

a. additional safeguarding- J1 \, O1 Q9 Q- Y2 ^0 |; }
b. means of protection
/ I S; e1 s, F# Qc. cautionary markings and/or instructions, etc , particularly if the remaining laser beam# I+ }! K' z& Z/ Z6 K
contains high energy content.
