During the test of protection against electric shock for luminaires, in some cases a live metal part
projected from lamp cap E 27 can be accessible with the standard test finger. When the compliance of the
used lamp and the built-in lampholder were checked with the relevant requirements of IEC 60432-1
and IEC 60238, they were found as satisfied. But the live part accessibility within the luminaire was
caused by such a metal part projected from the lamp cap which is acceptable according to the sub clause
! O  b7 L1 b, N4 C/ Y' a8 y2.7.3 of IEC 60432-1. “On Edison screw caps any projection from the cap shell shall not project more
8 |# `5 Z1 g9 x- ~& C& c0 P) g7 vthan 3 mm from the surface of the cap. See figure 1”. In this case there can easily come into existence a
cap and holder combination where the protection against electric shock cannot be maintained within the
luminaire.

Yes, the lampholder and the lamp shall comply with their gauges specified in IEC Publication 60061(for
further information, see 60061-4, Sheet 7007-20-1).
