We seek clarification on the correct method to perform a mechanical impact test for both mains rated* [" o6 S- ^3 F5 c4 }2 R
voltage, SELV and ELV lighting chains in respect of clause 20.7.6 of the above referenced standards., C- r5 h+ u" c
The seems to be a difference between IEC and EN.

2/ According to IEC version of the test E5 & E10 lampholder are subjected to a free fall test EN 60068-2-! ?/ P i8 x; L9 B) m$ J! K
75. Clause 15.6 suggests a method of test to fix the lampholder to plywood. We have made some

the test engineer) with the lampholder fixed against plywood and again without the* z! I1 M/ K! s. w
lampholder being fixed at all. We find that when the lampholder is fixed most times the plastic( q1 M. o0 ^# ]. p X7 ?( O
lampholder cracks which can result in the live contacts becoming loose within the lampholder. What is# e0 ?" A# e! D- r
the correct test and lampholder support method to make according to IEC?
; o# D* _- Y' G* u. s8 z3/ According to EN the test is again referenced to 60238 but is modified by Annex ZB. Its says in annex t) ~8 w+ x' N9 \
ZB the tests don’t apply to E5 but what about push in?

1/ 15.2 is not applicable to push in type lampholder. 20.7.13 takes over.

lampholders shall fulfil the tumbling barrel test.
