UL档案就是UL的证书及报告，每个工厂每类产品都有一个档案号的，就相当于证书号，这个档案每年要进行4次工厂检查以及维护费就能持续有效的

UL档案简单说就是UL方便管理，给每家公司所编的一个编号而已，档案号同样与产品类别息息相关的，不存在一次认证以后就不需要的情况，不同产品类别必须启用不同的档案号.

----同类产品只需一个UL File No,建立以后你所申请的产品的报告，图片，测试报告都可以查得到，这是由UL操作的。

UL服务是很完善的，不像其它认证，总以纸板文件寄来寄很麻烦的。

Hi, answer your question as below:( D2 b5 a: M+ @: U9 I- G  s
1. UL file, its official name is UL follow up service procedure, of course, the UL FUS procedure must be created at the first time, then your products can be covered and described in that FUS procedure, as well, that file will be used to keep the conformance, and it's also will be used by UL factory auditor during the factory audit;6 @% M1 Y+ C: ?% A# _5 S2 j" M' N8 q- b
As to the future, if your new products can be covered by the existing UL FUS procedure, then a new UL file does not need to be created, you only need to update your current UL FUS procedure, and let the new products covered by that one; and if your new products can not be covered by your existing UL file, then in this case, a new file is necessary to be created, normally, it depends on the CCN of your products( for this question, I can not explain more to you, you can get it step by step and day by day when you deal with UL approval in the future).
, e6 X2 Y" D* i* d8 TAs to the Biz license, it's only needed during the first time, and after that, it won't be necessary, cause UL has already kept it in file.4 [% N7 \1 W" u4 g; [: W* f

C: Some information related with your company due to creating your UL file;9 G) A- U4 J: X& ?: H5 {% O' i
D: Required samples: used for testing and verification by UL engineer.

As to the cost, it depends on the specified products, different products have different charging, as well, it also depends on how many models/families you want to apply for, so I can not provide accurate information here, so I strongly suggest you to get those information directly from UL, normally in China, UL suzhou office can be reached, if your products are not so special.

UL:Underwriters Laboratories

0 I7 o# T1 g/ N1 l0 l. w, Z5 sFUS procedure: Follow-up service procedure, which we normally call it the UL certificate, but actually, the first page of this procedure is the real UL certificate.# k. T( V% J& c) Y' m
Field representative: UL factory auditor, \9 l7 `- T1 w+ ?1 [- r$ s
Manufacturer representative: the factory representative who's the interface with the UL factory auditor( @% S- I& k- {& c0 S( I
Type L: one type of the UL products, normally needs to buy labels directly from the UL , but not all
, g) j- t7 w6 ^( P( LType R:another type of the UL products
2 E  H, V) V+ g1 U; y
+ K; t: F9 M- p. m% ^2. UL inspection frequency:+ w9 `8 m0 Y9 _/ J8 f
For type L: basically, it depends on the output of the factory, that means it depends on the quantity of the UL label which the manufacturer used.' o8 S# ^  I( H1 k& T. _
For Type R: normally, four times a year, but for some special products, not four times, but at least one time per year is needed* f, J: V' g+ L' _6 G

3. Construction of the FUS procedure:
5 I9 c2 _% J  F. JMost of the Fus procedures are composed as below:
4 \) d7 n- Y9 f, L9 w+ \1)Authorization page: that's the first page of the Fus procedure, which generally shows your factory has the right to use the UL mark on your products., `6 @8 o. `* {/ P# Q
2)index page: which show the general information of the products which are authorized by UL that the UL mark can be applied.3 z8 j0 g7 M! a6 B: I) c
2)Sec.Gen.: general description of your products, cause normally, there are many specified sections in your FUS procedure, so the Sec.Gen show some common information of those different sections.
8 E: [$ _+ \+ |4 v3)Sec.X: X represents the detailed section of your FUS procedure, which show the detailed descrition of the products covered by this section, most of the critical components are described in this section/ b  x! q4 v4 ]& ?. o
4)Fig. and Ill: figures and illustrations which can show some visual information of your products
% k2 Q4 V3 J: z% [; z5)Test reports: which can show the test items and test methods when your factory applies for the UL approval.

4. Audit areas:; K/ @2 J. N& ?1 E
Normally, UL field representive will check five areas:
+ d7 F9 _2 r4 q# H1)production line: to see the specified products and whether there are products with the UL mark on the production line.At this time, the auditor will check the comformance of the components and the online tests, even including the calibration information of the equipments on the production line.
# `3 g: W3 ~* Y2)warehouse for the components: when some components can not be verified on the production line, the auditor will check the warehouse to reconfirm the comformance of the components, as well the auditor will check some wire&cable's label which also a very important check item.
) c1 R% T( i( J+ Y. f7 J( F3)warehouse for the final products: to check whether there are some products with the UL mark which are not authorized by UL
4 l# o. s' S4 Y9 L# R$ S6 C6 q4)testing area: to verify some test  items which required by UL, including the equipments' calibration information5 H$ Y- q/ Z5 y6 M4 \# y# j9 x
5) shipping area: to check if  your factory are shipping non-authorized products.

$ Y4 t+ y) Z2 S6 x  v( j5. Documents for UL auditor use:
6 B  I# s' Z! _For type L products, the UL auditor will use the related product standards and your FUS procedure, for example, AWM wire, the UL auditor will use below documents:9 W3 U4 h; f& R5 Y; J  a8 E
1)UL758, UL1581 standards7 j. s. |( D: k! `/ H
2)FUS procedure: including the FUII, style page, facing page
1 x7 K, t- d& I$ v7 I  F+ fFor type R products, normally, the auditor only use the FUS procedure, cause they don't have enough time to know each product standards.

6. Why VN was issued:# X2 J' f* @) C% }7 J
Most of those cases are as follows:
4 d) h! P3 E" Z' {2 p/ x1) nonconformance of critical components, including the raw material, model No. dimensions and etc- S0 b- `. B1 E7 p! D4 O
2) noncomformance of the test : including the wrong methods and unqualified calibration * ?$ O" }. g2 Y1 ^1 q$ z& V
3) noncomformance of the test results: , n- s. x9 i3 Y8 q! ?
4) non-authorization use of the UL mark: apply the UL mark on the products which are not authorized by UL
2 J* G2 S4 P+ U5 o  G3 t5) nonconformance of the COC documents: can not provide the right traceability documents during the inspection
  b/ T( h* a% ]3 }6) other special cases: such as the refuse of the inspection and etc...9 ]2 }( ~2 E4 ]% o- x) E

7. How to resolve the VN:5 ^% W" X. _! J3 g
Normally, there are three ways to solve the VN, see below:
0 u# k$ q( o7 ^, x1) Rework under the witness: if VN found, and the VN can be solved in the field, then rework these VN items under the auditor's witness, then ok2 v$ U) G+ _1 H: t0 k) ^+ M
2) Marking remove: if VN found, and these VN items are not so easy to be resloved in a short time, and you still want to ship these products, then select to remove the UL marking , then ok& f8 C$ S1 [8 E, q
3) Hold shipment: similar with the item 2), and you are not so urgent to ship out the products, or these VN items needs to be evaluated by the UL CAS department, then select to hold shipment until further confirmation was finished. but remember, don't ship out these products without the UL's approval.7 D; [1 o+ l4 l  t# s6 P7 e1 X7 H) `% V

1 h' }3 `" x# N9 l: @* \* W1) Don't ship out the products with the UL mark before the IPI(first inspection) was finished; d7 ^8 m4 V7 z- w
2) Don't show you are so experienced before the UL auditor, even you are a real experienced guy
1 A+ q8 V9 y' o6 C& B! ]; e3) If possible, prepare some gifts, or cash for urgent cases0 x! S& \4 Z! c& G

比如你申请了UL758一个档案号，当你申请UL  62或UL83……之类时就要重新建立档案号，如果在UL 758里新增STYLE 型号就不用再建立新档案号
