ABC Airlines Company bought a new aircraft from Boeing Company. Mike is the representative of ABC Airlines Company. He invites Boeing Company's representative, Allen to visit his company for maintenance on- job training . It's the first time that they see each other.
Mike: ABC Airlines Technician
Allen: Boeing Company's Representative
Mike: Allen. Thanks a lot for coming here to supervise us the maintenance skills of Boeing 742.
Allen: It's my pleasure.
Mike: Before beginning your lessons, I will give you a brief about our department.
Our department is the Maintenance Dept. We are on the first floor of the main building and I am the head of this department . Our main task is to work with our suppliers to maintain our current aircraft. We organize all the machines, equipment and aircraft to prevent mistakes. You know that any mistake means hundreds of lives. Therefore, for avoiding any mistakes, all of the technicians in our department never work overtime.
Allen: Do not worry. Our main task happens to service all of the aircraft that sold to our customers. I will assist you to avoid any mistake.
Mike: Thanks for lending us a hand.
Allen: Since you do not work time, your team must be very big.
Mike: Yes, there are 50 technicians in our team. We are re-organizing our department into three divisions. After this re-organization, these three divisions will be task- orientated.
Allen: It sounds good. Also, I would like to know more about your maintenance facilities.
Mike: As you know our company is one of the biggest airline companies in Taiwan. Most of our technicians have more than four years experience in this field. Also, we have two well-equipped laboratories and all of the maintenance gears and equipment are advanced. Talking about “advanced”, most of our equipment is automated. Automation of the maintenance procedures has greatly shortened our time. In addition, we are equipped with one molding room for developing all kinds of special gears. Of course, if you can give us more advices to design maintenance procedures for this airplane, we will be the best in the field.
