5 General conditions for the tests

6.1 Add the following to the requirement as a new second paragraph:; |0 s+ e2 C, O
If an appliance consists of a part of class III construction and a detachable power supply

7.1 Replace the last dashed item in the first paragraph by the following:

necessary for appliances operated only by batteries (primary batteries or secondary

batteries recharged in the appliance.

appear together before any other instructions supplied with the appliance. Alternatively, these
  F0 V% W4 P+ q  S" dinstructions may be supplied with the appliance separately from any functional use booklet.

  S2 [4 t( {1 C- _% pdrawings/sketches common to the languages of the instructions.
# D0 o: V% r: S- v* jIn addition, instructions shall also be available in an alternative format such as on a website
( x; X' }* }( _# p+ [or on request from the user in a format such as a DVD.% L" y  z3 s2 i
Compliance is checked by inspection.* o" u9 G: _5 b3 U9 S& ], T
7.14 Add the following as new second paragraph to the requirement:; E# ~: i0 P" m4 O) u
The signal words WARNING, CAUTION, DANGER if in the Latin alphabet shall be in" N$ k! Y! s$ }) |- J
uppercase having a height not less than$ M* V( [1 H9 {
– 3,5 mm for appliances normally used on the floor;! V6 E1 ?7 ~# V5 \  S
– 2,0 mm for portable appliances with a printable surface of less than 10 cm2; and  w# _# R7 {) k) s7 `- ~8 t4 j
– 3,0 mm for other appliances.9 D3 V& N/ K, k3 k
NOTE A height of 3,5 mm is similar to Arial 14 pt, 3,0 mm is similar to 12 pt Arial and 2,0 mm is similar to 8 pt9 z( z; A9 j8 W; D

Uppercase letter of the text explaining the signal word shall be no smaller than 1,6 mm, with7 r* L9 [6 g$ u7 Q! _# e
other letters according to the font size of the uppercase letter.

Replace the first paragraph of the test specification by the following:
! N% ^- k) Z, x3 m8 B. {" ~  \, sCompliance is checked by inspection, by measurement and by rubbing the marking by hand
* t) B5 F& f8 l/ x& dfor 15 s with a piece of cloth soaked with water and again for 15 s with a piece of cloth5 B: g- w3 @! i
soaked with petroleum spirit. The petroleum spirit to be used for the test is aliphatic solvent* o- `, B' h9 S- y7 \

% H0 W9 j/ l$ l, w8.1.3 Replace the note by the following., B4 N3 R1 J+ t
If a single switching action is obtained by a switching device, the switching device shall; b2 }* z' c, b0 O/ P* T5 Y
provide full disconnection and the clearances for full disconnection specified in 20.1.5.3 of

Compliance is checked by inspection and by manual test.$ V' @& f: y2 I; _' D( o
13 Leakage current and electric strength at operating temperature' `0 d( t9 Q0 [1 x: k
13.2 Replace the first paragraph by the following:
+ |& J" A6 i$ k& [3 r4 VThe leakage current is measured by means of the circuit described in Figure 4 of
( M6 d- @2 C1 h6 [IEC 60990:1999. For class 0I appliances and class I appliances, except parts of class II
: D9 A  w3 `# ~$ kconstruction, C may be replaced by a low impedance ammeter responding to the rated: Z) j" X/ V# Z/ A" R* n; S
frequency of the appliance.

* p& \3 t5 s. v; E8 G" |& }0 Y19.1 Add the following to the penultimate paragraph of the test specification:! ]: f& A% m" [1 i5 d$ w9 p
If the control performs more than one function, only that aspect of the control under

19.11.3 Replace the text of the test specification but not the note, by the following.  V3 W) k7 d, Q0 R
If the appliance incorporates a protective electronic circuit that operates to ensure; t' N# h# O( _. i8 _+ N2 `- h& U
compliance with Clause 19, the appliance is tested as follows:
) C0 Y2 u/ Y9 Z3 k( ]+ G# o7 {A fault as indicated in a) to g) of 19.11.2 shall be incorporated in the protective electronic/ c9 C+ R$ Z. I; w
circuit either before the appliance is started or at any point in time after the appliance is
7 E: `0 }  p( Y4 h  i4 Ystarted so that the most unfavourable conditions of the test are applied.
3 x- a( _* z* A3 YIf the appliance is able to operate after the fault in the protective electronic circuit is  T% i6 p# a% N: f; M
incorporated, then the appliance is further tested as follows.. H; k8 X- G, M+ N2 m* w
For appliances for continuous operation the appliance is operated until steady conditions are7 c( b5 q1 G" n, L6 ]2 m
reached. Then the relevant test of Clause 19 is repeated.* o+ b3 ^; S8 n' R' |% b
Other appliances are operated for one cycle of operation. Then the relevant test of Clause 195 U; q) B& e3 B( R
is repeated.7 r' h: U* [: T  v# V
19.11.4.2 Replace the test specification but not the note, by the following:; i0 K) D% G6 _7 G
The appliance is subjected to radiated fields in accordance with IEC 61000-4-3.6 A* j3 L& }" y6 A
The frequency ranges tested shall be:
8 L" J: l9 x6 T; |) G– 80 MHz to 1 000 MHz, test level 3;$ g. _/ `) {& l, D
– 1,4 GHz to 2,0 GHz, test level 3;
9 b7 V) e. G3 t% a: Y5 h% |6 E– 2,0 GHz to 2,7 GHz, test level 2.
