Hong Kong holds Asia's largest Jewellery fair
The West's stricken economy is posing a big challenge for the jewelry industry. But buyers at the Hong Kong Jewellery fair are eying up some very high end pieces.The 5-day Hong Kong Fair is the largest in Asia. It attracts more than 3,000 exhibitors from 48 countries and regions. Stands sparkle with an array of jewelry - some with single values in excess of a million dollars.
The latest annual report from the World Gold Council says China is set to overtake India to become the world's biggest gold market this year due to rising incomes and a weak rupee. In celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dragon the fair is glittering with dragon inspired pieces.
