Nordstrom Recalls Girl抯 Shoes Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of product: Nordstrom Girl抯 Shoes
Units: About 31,000
Importer: Nordstrom, of Seattle, Wash.
Hazard: Surface paint on the outer sole of these shoes contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recall includes six styles of Nordstrom-brand shoes for girls. 揅larice-Fab?flats are bone colored with a bow. 揈va-Fab?are bone colored T-strap sandals. 揊ern-Fab?are ankle strap sandals sold in bone, pink, white, blue polka-dot or pink polka-dot. 揕illy-Fab?are fuchsia gingham ballerina flats with a bow. 揜ita-Fab?are ankle strap dress shoes sold in ivory linen, pink linen, white linen, cafe satin, silver satin or white satin. 揤ivi-Fab?are open-toe dress shoes in bone, white, green polka-dot, lavender polka-dot or yellow polka-dot. The shoes were sold in girls?sizes 10 through big-kids 7. All shoes have an embossed 揘ORDSTROM?printed on the insole. Only the colors identified above are subject to the recall.
Sold exclusively at: Nordstrom stores nationwide from September 2006 through February 2009 for between about $35 and $45.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled shoes away from children immediately and return them to any Nordstrom store for a full refund or exchange.
