8.2 Application of the surge in the laboratory
– test level (voltage) (refer to Annex A);
– number of surges:
number of surge pulses unless otherwise specified by the relevant product standard:
- for d.c. power ports and interconnection lines five positive and five negative surge
pulses;
- for a.c. power ports five positive and five negative pulses each at 0º, 90º, 180º and at
270º;
– time between successive pulses: 1 min or less;
– representative operating conditions of the EUT;

如果是 IEC 61547 则有些分別:
IEC 61547:2009
5.7 Surges
These tests are carried out according to IEC 61000-4-5, with test levels as given in Table 10 of this standard. Lower levels need not to be tested. Pulses shall be applied to the a.c. voltage wave as follows; five positive polarity pulses at the 90o phase angle, five negative polarity pulses at the 270o phase angle. Two test levels are given for different types of lighting
