36.1.1 A portable luminaire with any accessible non-current carrying conductive parts and operating with
voltage to ground in excess of 150 volts, under any condition of service including open circuit, shall have
a grounding type attachment plug.
Exception No. 1: A portable luminaire provided with double insulation between uninsulated parts operating
above 150 V to ground and any accessible non-current carrying conductive parts need not comply with
36.1.1.
Exception No. 2: A portable luminaire provided with a simple reactance ballast or a ballast marked “For
