Decision taken by

meeting, in Toronto
Question:
There is no requirement for the marking of battery terminals. Has this caused difficulty in
test programmes?
Decision:
No marking is required, no difficulties were reported as a consequence.
Explanation:
Clause 13.2.2. requires batteries intended to be changed by the user to be connected in
reverse polarity, if possible, as a type test and this has eliminated hazards.
Note: Care should be taken with certain cells, (eg lithium), when performing this test to
ensure there is no risk of explosion.
