Question:
What requirements are needed on fixing devices for wall mounting equipment?
Decision:
No specific requirements are given in the standard, however, where a hazard could arise if a
device becomes detached from its mounting, laboratories are performing a 4x loading test
applied vertically and/or horizontally as appropriate.
Explanation:
There is no requirement to perform any test if analysis shows that no hazard can arise. The
use of the 4x loading test is in line with other IEC documents (eg IEC 60601).
