Question:
Where a device has more than one mains cord e.g. laboratory bench, how is the marking
requirement fulfilled?
Decision:
IEC61010-1 does not allow a single device to have more than one means of disconnection
from the supply. In general this will preclude the use of more than 1 mains supply cord if
the cord is the means of disconnection.
Explanation:
The requirements for mains connection are given in Clause 6.12.2.2. which refers to a
single means of disconnection from the supply i.e. a switch or an appliance coupler or a
separate plug which will in general preclude multiple connection means to the mains
supply.
