Standard:

:1995
Sub clause:
14.7
Sheet n. 359
Page 1(1)
Subject:
Mains transformers
Key words:
- Overload
- Temperature limits
Decision taken by
ETF3 and confirmed
by CTL at its 38th
meeting, in Toronto
Question:
1. What temperature limits are used?
2. The test specifies that the protective device is left in circuit but this will render the test
impractical if the device is a fuse, which may rupture in less than 1 hour. So how do
laboratories perform this test?
3. "Directly Connected" can be seen as in many ways, can the laboratories share their
practice?
Decision:
It was agreed that;
1.Table 4 'Motor temperatures' should be referenced.
2. The test circuit should be arranged such that the test can continue for 1 hour.
3.The fuse should be connected such that no single fault condition between the transformer
and the fuse should cause a hazard.
