Standard(s):
IEC 61049/1991
IEC 61049-Ec/1992
Subclause(s): 8
No. Year PDSH 1005 2010
Category: LITE Developed by: ETF5 OSM/LUM
Subject:
Measurement of tangent of loss angle on capacitors
Key words:
- Discharge resistor
- Capacitor
- Tangent of loss angle
To be approved at the 49th CTL Plenary Meeting, in 2012
Question:
When checking the value of the tangent of loss angle against the value declared by the manufacturer,
should a discharge resistor encapsulated with the capacitor be considered? This is relevant because in a 2
μF capacitor with a discharge resistor of 1 M, the tangent can duplicate its value.
Decision:
In case the resistor is an integral part of the capacitor, the resistance is to be considered.
