Key words:
- Rated conditions

To be approved at the 49th CTL Plenary Meeting, in 2012
Question:
In order to save energy for street lighting during non-rush hours periods, some luminaires are fitted with
inductive ballasts incorporating an additional terminal for reducing the current and flux of the lamp,
(usually H.P. sodium). To certify this type of ballast, we apply the IEC 61347-2-9 and IEC 60923 to the
normal, (rated power) connection only. Do you agree?
Decision:
For rated conditions the ballast shall comply with all requirements, performance and safety. The
additional windings shall comply with safety requirements.
