Standard(s):
IEC 60598-2-10/2003
Subclause(s): 10.1.1
No. Year PDSH 0945 2010
Category: LITE Developed by: ETF5 OSM/LUM
Subject:
Luminaires with two-dimensional graphic reproduction of persons or animals (real or imaginary) on removable shades
Key words:
- IP classification
- Cable entry
- Garden luminaire
To be approved at the 49th CTL Plenary Meeting, in 2012
Question:
The last sentence of the Scope states that “Luminaires with 2D graphic reproduction of persons or animals
(real or imaginary) on removable shades” are excluded from the scope of the standard. What kind of
shades can be considered removable?
1) A shade fixed on the outer shell of lampholder (to remove it is normally necessary to remove
the lamp and the shade ring)?
2) A shade removable with a normal tool?
3) A transparent film applied in the internal or external surface of the luminaire and fixed with
claw, hook or in guides?
4) A transparent cover applied (not fixed) on the outer surface covering nearly all the
luminaire?
5) A cover to be removed during lamp replacement (screwed on the base or fixed by tools)?
Decision:
Examples 1, 3 and 4 are considered removable shades.
Examples 2 and 5 are not considered removable, as a tool is needed to remove it.
