Standard(s):
IEC 60598-2-22/1997 A1/2002 A2/2008
Subclause(s): 22.12.6
No. Year PDSH 0978 2010
Category: LITE Developed by: ETF5 OSM/LUM
Subject:
Additional thermal test with short circuit in battery charger
Key words:
- Abnormal test
- Battery charger
- Test voltage
To be approved at the 49th CTL Plenary Meeting, in 2012
Question:
According to clause 22.12.6, an additional thermal test of abnormal operation with a short circuit link
across the battery charger output, shall be performed in conjunction with clause 12.5.
In 12.5.1.b), the test voltage is different if the luminaire is for filament lamps or for fluorescent lamps.
Taking into account that the test is performed to check the battery charger and it is not dependent on the
type of the lamp used in the luminaire, whose voltage shall be used for this test?
Decision:
A test voltage of 1,1 times of the rated voltage shall be used for this test, independent on the type of lamp
included in the luminaire (filament, fluorescent or LED).
