Question:
Some lampholders intended to be built into appliance are of such construction (see the photos below) that
it is impossible to test them by use of some gauges, e.g. a gauge according to the standard sheets 7006-30
and 7006-31, and according to Figure 11, if a lampholder is not re-assembled prior to test. This means that
the metal part of a lampholder, intended to fix it in the appliance, has to be removed and consequently a
lampholder becomes useless. When testing the protection against electric shock with gauge 7006-31 on
the re-assembled lampholder, the test probe easily reaches a contact. However, in real situation, a contact
with a lamp cap when inserting the lamp is not possible. What is the opinion of other Laboratories?
Decision:
Lampholder for specific use shall be tested according to the intended use.
