Question: sub-clause 19.13 of IEC60335-1 reads: “after the tests and when the appliance
has cooled to approximately room temperature, enclosures shall not have deformed
to such an extent that compliance with clause 8 is impaired and, if the appliance is
still operated, it shall comply with 20.2”
Does this mean that 20.2 and the subsequent test of clause 21 has to be checked on
the appliance only if the appliance is still able to operate ?
In this case clause 21 would be performed on an other sample, which is not in line
with clause 4.2.
Decision: The intent of the is to apply the requirements of 20.2 and the test of 21 to
ensure safety in both normal and abnormal conditions.
