Testing hair curler with stand
11.2
60335-2-23(ed.5)

Question:
In sub-clause 3.5.1 and 11.2 of IEC 60335-1:2001, it is mentioned that hand held appliances, such as a hair curler, are appliances held in the hand during normal use.
During the test of clause 11, hand held appliances are to be held in their normal position of use.
In IEC 60335-2-23:2003, there is no modification done to align to IEC 60335-1:2001. As a result, no floor temperatures have to be measured.
For a hair curler with a stand built into the handle with the possibility of being put on the table in a stable position (see picture), is it necessary to determine the floor temperatures?
Decision:
Yes, it should be tested on the stand and floor temperatures measured.
