Question:
The hand dryer shown in the photograph is typical of those encountered in offices, restaurants and hotels . These hand dryers usually have similar characteristics and mounting method:
The external cover has to be removed, the body of the apparatus is fixed to the wall, cabling from the installation is passed through a hole in the back side and connected to the terminals of the apparatus.
In addition to the terminals, the hand dryer shown in the photograhp has a printed circuit board with its components and live parts is accessible, when the front cover is removed for connection to the installation cabling.
Does this construction comply with the clause 8.1.5?
Decision:
Subclause 8.1.5 requires built-in appliances to be protected at least by basic insulation "before installation or assembly”. The construction is thus in compliance with the standard.
